BURLINGTON, Vt. — Arnaud Tattevin took matters into his own hands Friday night.

After seeing his team go down 1-0 early in the second half, Tattevin scored three straight goals in a five-minute stretch and teammate Ryan Zeliffrow also scored in the second half as second-ranked Vermont Green FC defeated Hudson Valley Hammers 4-1 in an USL League Two Round of 32 Playoffs game at Virtue Field in front of an overflow crowd.

Hudson Valley Hammers took its 1-0 lead when Nicholas Zielonka scored in the 52nd minute.

The lead was short-lived and the lead simply awoke a sleeping giant.

Forget Enter Sandman. How about Enter Tattevin?

The University of North Carolina-Greensboro forward and native of Paris, France, tied the game at 1-1 in the 56th minute on a penalty kick goal and then had a pair of quick strikes in the 60th and 61st minutes to put the Vermont Green FC up for good at 3-1.

And for good measure, Zeliffrow netted a fourth goal in the 90th minute as part of four unanswered tallies by the Green to settle for the 4-1 edge at the end.

Tattevin only had two goals and two assists in the regular season for Vermont Green, but picked the right time to have a three-goals explosion.

Niklas Herceg finished with six saves for the Vermont Green FC to gain the win in goal, while the side improved to 12-0-3 on the season to remain unbeaten and increase the win percentage up to .800. The Vermont Green’s defense of Rui Aoki, Moussa Ndiaye, Brandon Marshall and Gabriel Fernandez only allowed a few chances and one goal over 90 minutes.

Alexander Hall had the assist on Tattevin’s second goal, while his third tally was another penalty kick goal.

The Vermont Green FC has now outscored its opposition 42-9 this season and advances to the Round of 16, the Eastern Conference semifinals, on Sunday at 6 p.m. against FC Motown STA, also at Virtue Field. Tickets for Sunday's match are already sold out.

The Hudson Valley Hammers won their Eastern Conference Play-In contest Tuesday with a 3-1 victory over the Ocean City Nor’Easters. The side just couldn’t slow up No. 2-ranked Vermont Green FC in seeing their season come to an end with an 8-3-3 overall record and 25-19 scoring edge.
