SAN DIEGO — Expansion side San Diego FC continued its remarkable inaugural campaign on Monday night, earning a 1–0 win over Minnesota United in front of a sold-out crowd at Snapdragon Stadium to advance to the Western Conference Final.

Anders Dreyer delivered the decisive moment in the 72nd minute, finishing a well-built sequence off assists from Corey Baird and Jeppe Tverskov. Dreyer — the league’s Newcomer of the Year and a Best XI selection — has been sensational all season with 19 goals and 19 assists, and now adds four goals and two assists in just four playoff matches.

San Diego goalkeeper Pablo Sisniega recorded three saves to secure the shutout, while Minnesota’s Dayne St. Clair was not credited with a save in his 11th career postseason start. The No. 4-seeded Loons were eliminated in the conference semifinals for the second straight year.

Under head coach Mikey Varas, San Diego set MLS expansion-team records with 19 wins and 63 points, capturing the top seed in the Western Conference.

San Diego FC will now host the second-seeded Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday, with a trip to the MLS Cup on the line. In the Eastern Conference, No. 5 seed New York City FC heads to third-seeded Miami for Saturday’s opening matchup.
